Continuing the discussion from Rough draft for our Kickstarter reward tiers with an updated list of our Kickstarter reward tiers. A summary of changes is we’ve added bobble heads tot he beta/alpha reward tiers, a decal set at $100, and a statue with your name on it at $500. After much debate we decided against offering 4-packs or anything like it other than at the $2500+ reward tiers.
$5 - You have our eternal gratitude and your name in the credits.
$20 - You receive a copy of the finished game along with a “Bronze Supporter” badge for the forums with an accompanying in-game decal for your ships.
$23/$25 - Same as above but you also get a limited edition skin for a single ship that we choose. The $23 price point will be limited to the first X (TBD) backers at which point it will increase to $25.
$35 - You get all of the above along with a digital art book and the sound track. The digital art book will include a wide range of released and unreleased artwork that has been produced internally by our art team.
$40/$50 - All of the above including beta access to the game, a silver forum badge with an associated in-game decal for all of your ships, access to private beta forums, and a googly eyed asteroid cockpit bobble head. The $40 reward tier will be limited to the first X (TBD) backers before its price increases to $50.
$75/$85 - All of the above including alpha access to the game, a gold forum badge with an associated in-game decal for all of your ships, access to private alpha forums, and a space-whale cockpit bobble head. The $75 reward tier will be limited to the first X (TBD) backers before its price increases to $85.
$100 - All of the above including custom decal set consisting of nose art, racing stripes, etc.
$150 - All of the above including a special edition set of skins for all playable ships.
$250 - All of the above including “Developer Access” to the game. This means you will have access to the game at more or less the same time the dev team starts playing it. Immediately after our Kickstarter we’ll have a month or 2 of administrative crap that we have to take care of but as soon as we begin producing daily builds backers at this reward tier will have access to them along with a platinum forum badge and an associated in-game decal for all of their ships. You will get immediate access to private developer forums. Lastly you will get a procedural planet bobble head for your cockpit. This personal planet will be different every time you start up the game.
$500 - You will get all of the above including a special set of effects for all of your weapons. These effects will be purely visual and will not affect weapon speed, damage, etc. You will also receive a diamond forum badge and an associated in-game decal for all of your ships. A statue with your name engraved on it is hidden somewhere in the solar system.
$2,500 - All of the above including a custom, personalized skin for a single ship size corvette or smaller of your choosing. You will also be able to customize your ship decal and this reward tier comes with 5 additional copies of the game. You have the option of choosing the dev-approved location of your statue. Lastly the first 5 backers at this reward tier will be given the opportunity to name a planet in the Battlescape solar system.
$10,000 - All of the above including the ability to design a custom advertisement for a billboard and/or hologram that will float around a space station. Your name will be highlighted in the Battlescape credits as an executive producer and you will receive an official Infinity Battlescape dev team t-shirt.
So I think I will pledge for the 250$ tier (although strictly speaking that is more money then I really should spend on a digital item, but hey). Just to be clear (and I know this is a small and trifling detail), will I have the choice between the space whale and the googly eyed asteroid bobble head? Because I want the asteroid.
In serious: I think this looks really good, with a focus on relatively simple to implement digital rewards. Looking forward to the pending kickstarter!
Wait I thought there was more than 1 solar system? Or are we limited to a single solar system in-game? Sorry for my confusion. Please correct me gently as I may have missed something critical here.
Otherwise the tiers look alright to me. I personally wished there was more physical stuff but yeah I know that’s a completely different problem and I know the devs just want to focus on making the game and not worry about Merch , perhaps in the future. (Let’s hope with all digits crossed).
Biggest question - WHEN WILL YOU LAUNCH IT? Please I want to be awake to support you the game! (I’m from Asia and players from our timezone are usually out of the loop)
For Battlescape we are only promising a single solar system. If we have the resources we may add more after the game ships. We plan to offer physical goods at some point in the future however I’m afraid we won’t be offering any during our Kickstarter. We’re working hard to launch our Kickstarter campaign very soon =D.
I’m super hyped the bobble heads made it into the game, is there any chance of having a button or setting that let’s me choose between space whale or asteroid depending on my mood that day?
Awesome tiers Inovae I’m really excited…I hope to pledge Dev status but we’ll see how the semester goes and the timing. I’m totally satisfied with all rewards and its great to see you do listen to us even at our most ridiculous moments!
I must admit, that i don’t know much about kickstarter. But to me it looks as if the pledges with all that custom material are too low. Especially the "all of the above… " part could get removed at some places.
The prices for playing (release, beta and alpha) are good, but all the other stuff seems to be too cheap.
Nice revision, only two things I see that are a bit off is the $50 jump for a bunch of skins to the $150 tier and the fact that the $250 developer tier doesn’t include access for developers, stuff like access to modding tools or access to the engine, even at some later date.
They are standardized but we might offer a bunch of different variations ( I say might, because that isn’t guaranteed, but we’d like to do at least a male and female version ). We can’t go too crazy in this area because modeling a custom statue for each individual backer would cost a good chunk of the $500 tier. Maybe we could do that for $2500 though.
The main idea with the statues is that we’ll hide them in various locations across the solar system.Nobody will know where they are, not even the backer ( unless you chose the specify the location in the $2500 tier ), but it’ll be guaranteed to be somewhere. Players who like to explore might look for them specifically, or stumble upon them by accident, and report their location to their owners. If after X months nobody has discovered the location of your statue, we might give you a small hint ( like the general location of where your statue is ).
Personally I think it’s a pretty cool small enhancement to the exploration / sandbox part of the game, but doubles as something cool for backers.
You also fleshed out the upper tiers. Well done. The statue idea is really great. I’m still missing a 1000$ tier but I guess you have worked around that.
Hm, i was really hoping for the 4 - packs. Does anyone know if Kickstarter allows you to select a lower tier 4 times instead of upgrading to a higher one? Making 4 accounts just for that is too much hassle.
