Option 3 please.
Two spawn Points opposite of each other in about 8 km distance. Preferably in an asteroid field for additional hidey places. Without npcs in the vicinity.
Would be ideal to test pvp interceptor/bomber/corvette gameplay.
Happy with whatever here.
Still, for something a bit different, is there any easy way to set up a series of larger, more powerful waves of enemy NPCs from only one side? A coop survival challenge with one or limited lives might be fun to try out.
I’m working on adding some admin commands that will be available to Dan to set up mini scenarios ( basically, being able to spawn… stuff… whereever he wants to ). It’d be pretty cool if it could turn into more advanced scenarios, but that’s not for the first version - I guess I’ll add more commands over time to allow some cool stuff. For this WE, basically he’ll be able to spawn any in-game object wherever he wants to. The AI bots can be disabled from moving around ( but can still attack enemies coming too close ) or be made invincible. If you have ideas of scenarios you’d like to see with these limited commands, let us know.
Great! I’ll surely join in and also volunteer to do some scorekeeping. (So Hutch can concentrate on streaming)
Nice to hear. I also would like to try something more experimental, especially with some form of score keeping.
I have prepared a google sheet for that purpose, it is ready to be used and will automatically track and show a dashboard of the results. All that is needed is putting in the kills made by players.
Would be nice to know if the participants should prepare anything. Something like this probably needs more setup then casual fleet ups or flying around.
I heard Flavien is even implementing a way to make the game execute commands from a file for Admins, which would make creating fleets easier and a horde mode probably quite easy to execute.
Would be fun, firstly I would rather try something more depended on PvP though.
Right now I’m checking if it’s possible to spawn an asteroid field to “spice up” things during this event. The only issue I’ve encountered is that each asteroid generates an indicator so that’s a lot of indicators floating around, but I might be able to fix it by just creating a new “ghost” indicator that doesn’t show up on the HUD in normal circumstances.
Asteroid field test is a success. I’ll make it available for this upcoming CE.
That was a really fun event. It was nice to test combat more in depth. Thanks Lomsor for keeping track of the score and the the whole idea, and thanks to the devs for doing it!
Thanks everyone for showing up and I-Novae for the support. The command script worked great and we were able to have two matches of Teamdeathmatch without much problem!
Was fun for me too, even if I just watched and hanged out with everyone.
You can look at the results here:

Congratulations to the winners of this community deathmatch event.
Hope to see new and more faces next time.
Can the Dev be beat …? You can do it! Show it next time.
The carriers can be bumped and some showed up with cap ships at the end of the second match but it worked great beside that and I think a carrier Teamdeathmatch would work great too.
I recorded 84 kills in total and it wasn’t really that problematic to do it. Thanks for the “System” tabs, it really helped to keep track and copy the stuff over. I see that it is also logged in the log file (although twice for some reason), so I think I’ll be able to join next time myself as I can extract the info from there.
Horde mode would be fun but it would be a bit hard to track without messages. I could note the cash everyone made at the end of each “round”. That would be an option.
Hope Hutch finds some time to get to know the commands, might be very powerful and allow for many different things.
@INovaeHutchings it might also be interesting if you maybe just moderate and spectate people instead of participating. With the tactical view and the admin ability to spectate anytime it could work out quite well.
Was a pretty interesting match, don’t often get involved with so much pvp action in one place without NPC intervention.
Thanks to everyone involved!
That reminds me: have anybody experienced technical / server issues ? I mean lag, ships stuttering, being unable to hit a target etc… ? I did see a few things like that in the stream and that got me a bit worried.
The only “problem” I personally experienced was the freeze when re-setting the arena, but that was expected. Others may have different experiences.
At the Start of the first match I had some pretty bad lag and rubber banding. Later it was good, but I think it may be just because using a US server with 150 ping from eu.
Trying to take me out of the lineup I see
I agree, it would be good to take on the commentator / spectotor role for the next match, especially as @INovaeFlavien continues to improve the starmap and tactical overlay viewmodes.
Having admin privs I should be able to spectate both teams. So we can get a clearer picture of the engagements taking place on the “scape”
Big thank-you to everyone that participated, those were some of the most intense 1v1 and 1v2 battles I’ve experienced in game so far. I’ll be sure to test out the arena setup in advance of future events, so we can experiment with alternatives, maybe get the big bois involved too. Destroyers only, or cruisers only rounds could be fun.
