Where is the reddit AMA?

We can’t do an AMA until the game ships to retail. They were quite explicit about that.

You can’t do one at /r/iama.

You could do it where they aren’t that … strict …

You could do one at any of those places. Sure /iama would have been the biggest audience … but whatever.

Or not. If you are fed up, that’s ok.

Perhaps next weekend, we shall see!

There’s also /r/ama … their rules look pretty leger.

Ouch. Sounds like we need to go around that obstacle to another subreddit or something. Mods are just a handful of people. Word will still get to the non-mod people (audience) who read AMAs, even if it needs to filter in from another subreddit.

I have an idea for a new reddit thread.

One where no one mentions the KS or the KS link.

A technical discussion based on your own thread here about orbits and gravity.

Adding in gas giants and how to fly into the cloud layers, the pressure and types of storms one would encounter.

And also drawing in the core of this thread on the SC forums about planetary transitioning…which also goes for gas giants.

My idea is that there are a lot of very clever people posting in the Orbit and Gravity thread here, so why not carry that over onto reddit as a technical discussion. And work into good short paragraphs ‘when comparing Elite to battlescape’ etc. Just using the games title and at most just using the website url http://infinitybattlescape.com/

No mention of KS. And for some of you to start the reddit and others here asking and answering questions. The technical the better.

And see where that leads. But just shut down any mention of the KS. Just use the games name when comparing to SC and ED for orbital and gravity mechanics, and just http://infinitybattlescape.com every now and again.

Let people discover the KS page naturally.

I know nothing about orbital mechanics and gravity, but I’m betting a lot of you clever peeps do and so would reddit users. And just let people discover the KS page themselves.

Is this idea any good? you’d need a good number of people here to agree and to give their time to get the thread started with some juicy topics to discuss.

/r/ama is an empty board, man.

Also, Everspace had their AMA up before their kickstarter ended.

Apparently it is permissible to have an AMA about an upcoming project that still has an ongoing Kickstarter AS LONG AS the KS has already been funded. Since I:BS has not yet been funded, that is why it was removed from /r/IAMA.

Ok, so what’s to stop someone pledging 300k until the AMA is over, then reverting their pledge? That rule seems incredibly arbitrary.

Aaaah, good catch. That’s very specific - is it explicitly stated in the rules? If so, then it’s our bad. If not, that’s on them.

Nothing, really.

Once a kickstarter had been funded, it cannot be defunded by someone lowering or canceling their pledge. That person would be stuck with defaulting post kickstarter, or hoping enough funds are raised to allow them to back off later.

Was there a new AMA? It’s funded, with one day left.

There is no AMA and there won’t be any afaik. They clearly said we had to have the product shipped. Not just the KS funded. Which had all of us left baffled.

They’re scum. You should denounce them and excommunicate them from Battlescape.

Flavien, don’t get discouraged by the attitude of one or two mods. It’s probably too late but if you are still interested in doing this, there is also /r/gaming and /r/games, which are completely independent communities and in my opinion more suitable for this kind of AMA.

At this time it’s probably better to wait for the KS to end and get things on track but consider doing this at some point, as it could be a great way to increase visibility.

The way reddit works, those rules only apply to one subreddit with a certain set of more or less self-appointed moderators, furthermore r/iama is a bad choice for exposure due to its unfocused nature. I contacted the r/pcgaming mods and they confirmed they would have no problem with your kickstarter AMA as long as you verified your identity (a post on these forums linking to the AMA would probably be enough for verification, they just dont want people pretending to be devs).

r/games and r/gaming are known to have shitty mod teams so i wouldnt recommend going there.

There’s still a chance for the AMA, like Matt said, /r/pcgaming (175k) or /r/pcmasterrace (400k) would be such a great place for this. You can use the original /r/iama post. Anytime between 9-17 Keith time would work!

I think it would be an easy last minute boost. Please consider it.

Wow, sounds like the mods of /r/iama fucked you over. Like @mattk50 said though, there are other large subreddits that you could do one on.

I haven’t seen AMAs on /r/pcmasterrace before, but if they do them that’s a super popular one.

I’m sorry.

There’s still being able to have a playable game that people can buy into early access at a higher rate than the Kickstarter is, and being able to announce that when it comes.
