You could merge the economy and the accounts, just like how world of tanks and world of warplanes will not crossplay, but the currency is the same and you have the same amount that you do in the other game.
Was it Long Island Ice Tea and were Snap, Crackle and Pop confused?
Only if we have to explain the FTL drive.
I think FTL would be self explanatory in such ships.
Keith, Flavien, what about after the Kick Starter?
I didn’t pledge for S.Citizen on KS, nor have I paid for 3d models since then. This however has clearly been a successful money making model for them. As it gathered a bit over 2 million on the KS campaign and a supposed 38 million now, is their model of selling pledges, whether its ships, a hanger what ever, is it something you as developers have thought about, or is it still to early to say/think about?
For them anyway it has clearly been very beneficial.
Still a bit early to talk about that. We’re currently just focused on shipping the Kickstarter and making it successful, we’ll worry about micro transactions afterward.
Also I remember Flavien saying he doesn’t agree with RSI’s approach.
It was masterful PR IMO, but it certainly now puts pressure on RSI to deliver.
@hrobertson. I don’t agree with it either, one of many things I don’t agree with what/how they have carried out their business.
@INovaeGene. Masterful, yes, pressure to deliver is extreme. RSI has to make what they have sold work in game play, all of it.
The super truth is that when George Lucas figures out that he can make the best Star Wars game ever with this engine that everyone will shit their pants and lock themselves in their computer room (not necessarily in that order). Seriously though, have you guys pitched to Lucas Arts yet?
Maybe if things go really well…
I would love this. Nobody really knows what Disney will do with LucasArts now they own the Star Wars rights, but if the engine is successful it would be a dream partnership in my eyes! I can dream.
And talk to them about what? LucasArts shuttered its development studio last year. All it does now is manage Star Wars video game licenses.
Ya, I forgot about the Disney buyout. Still, If a big boy with decision power sees a profit stream, he’s going to chase it. Closing the development studio was a decision, opening it back up would, likewise, just be another decision.
Paper or plastic is a decision. Coffee or tea is a decision. Whether you want white or whole wheat toast with your eggs is a decision. Opening up a game development studio is an ordeal, and an expensive one at that. Once these things close, odds are so heavily weighed against them ever opening again it’s ridiculous. All of your talent is moved on. You’re starting from scratch. The odds are more likely that you’d just buy an already existing small development studio, but once you’re at that point, having already made the decision to get out of that game, why wouldn’t you just license your trademark to them? Or, the more likely scenario, why wouldn’t you just license your trademark to EA and let them shoulder the burden of development costs while you get to collect licensing fees for, essentially, free?
I called LucasArts this morning, seems they are not interested.
Bwahahaha
I think EA has exclusive rights to making games for the Star Wars IP atm. In all likelihood they’re going to use FrostBite for all of their projects as they have a considerable investment in it - regardless of whether or not they were interested in our tech. That doesn’t mean we won’t try though ;).
Hi there,
I’ll ask my question here instead of opening a thread since it concerns the Kickstarter anyway :
Is it possible to tell us how close you are to get the kickstarter going ? If memory serves, it was initially scheduled for end 2013 and then was deported for the first semester of 2014.
We’re doing the best we can to launch it before this summer but I don’t have a hard release date for you. We have a few technical things to wrap up and one major art set piece that needs to get finished before we can launch the KS. We already have a mockup of our video it’s all the little polish items that are currently holding us back.
Just a short note on pricing.
If the game is not too much money I will get three copies. If it is moderate I will get two copies and if it is expensive I will get one. That will take care of X-mass if not birthdays.
PURPLE!!!
I’m sure they find this definition of arbitrary points on an arbitrary scale incredibly helpful for deciding pricing tiers…
