There is no age requirement for developing software. There are games made by kids that are released in store right now (google for it if you wish). So the good news is, that you dont have to wait several years as a pure gamer, you can start developing right away. And just a word of advice: It’s better to start developing when you’re young. Not so many obligations that eat into your time, you’re free to try out more things. The only thing that matters is your passion. If you dont have the slightest interest in actually developing, waiting for an arbitrary time will not magically give you the prowess to do so. If you just want to live an easy life that gets you handed on a silver platter, fine. It won’t happen, that’s for sure, but feel free to daydream about it for all eternity. But if you don’t want to let your dreams be dreams, you may as well stop talking about how you’re totally gonna do it, and
You’re never too young. In fact, the earlier you start trying to do it yourself, the sooner you’ll understand the undertaking you’ve set yourself up for.
You can game and dev. If you’re building a game, you should also ideally be playing it too
Pick a better documented engine with a solid toolset. Your main choices are: Source, UE, Unity, and CryEngine (or Lumberyard or whatever guise it lives under these days)
You won’t be competing with them. You’ll be fighting to reach the surface of an already flooded cesspit of half-baked indie games.

ok lets put it this way, i dont want to be a developer so i dont have to deal with coock sucker gamers. i believe the main reason i could be a good developer, is exactly cause i am a big time gamer. i believe that all the games that are out now are just fuucking garbage precisely cause devs are not gamers, never were, never will be, they are just people with money trying to make a living exploiting all gamers lifes and please all you coock suckers with eye candy feasts. face the fact that gamers spend their lifes playing video-games without any return and assume your responsability as developer in every gamer life or gtfo, “bro”.

I don’t find his cause unreasonable as there seems to be growing greed in the industry, unfortunately his language and hyperbole is waaaaay over the top. Just hope you go suspension and not all out ban like they do over at RSI and a few other sites.

3 years is excessive, in my opinion. Sure he stepped over the line, actually flung himself, lol, but I’m an adult so it takes a lot more than that to hurt my feelings. Probably a month or two would have sufficed, especially if it’s a first time offense.

IMO, ban should not be used (never), and Keith should write a function to call before posting, that randomly replace injuries with other words

lol, yeah I got that too, and to be honest he might even be a little touched, either that or very very young. And that’s why I didn’t engage him or bother with the sarcasm.
My personal favorite is the “ignore user” function, which unfortunately isn’t implemented in discourse, due to some ideological reason.
Which is why I tried implementing my own local version of “ignore user” via javascript, but sadly it is far from perfect and keeps breaking the forum for me, so I had to deactivate it.
@Zen irn4l is an … let’s say “interesting” … case. He himself demanded to be banned last year. To be more specific, it was 8 days after your initial registration (where you made a couple of posts and went silent) and 5 days before you started becoming an active poster again.
Anyway, this was his third attempt on the forum (if I counted right) to popularize a real-cash economy. One in 2014, one in 2015 and one in 2016. If he hadn’t been banned, he probably would’ve gone into lurk mode anyway sometime during november, just to resurface again next year.
Now it is going to take him 3 years to try again (nothing is preventing him from reading the forums - hey there irn4l *waves* - as this part of the forum isn’t hidden from unregistered people).
