Will I-NOVAE be a success or a flop? your thoughts

I think we should be cautiously optimistic as this could go either way but as long as we do our part and help spread the word it should be fine.

I don’t know about you, but kicktraq is being really optimistic right now.

I guess we’ll see in the next few days, when we have a bit more data.

I’ve been watching this project/engine since it’s earliest inception in 2006/2007. In the very beginning the Infinity engine was far beyond anything in the market. Fast forwarding to today, there are quite a lot of potential competitors in the near future. You have more traditional kind of MMO’s that add in a space component like ā€˜Project Genom’ and then you have full fledged space games, more like Infinity, with top notch graphics with ā€˜Star Citizen’.

I think this game has potential as a niche game similar to a game called ā€˜Allegiance’, which was released in 1999/2000. In Allegiance, a commander would control the economic future of a team (by researching new technologies and controlling builders), while players flew various space craft (single seat fighters, to multi seat bombers and cruisers/destroyers). The team could then use the ships the commander researched (some were free) or could request team funds to purchase larger vessels and equipment. In a lot of ways I think that ā€˜Infinity:Battlescape’ plans to offer many similar functions that Allegiance did in a much larger package with many more tactical opportunities then Allegiance offered. I have difficulty imagining that the Kickstarter for this game will receive anywhere near the stretch goal funds, but I think there is a likely possibility that it will surpass the minimum goal.

One important thing that Infinity:Battlescape needs to focus on massively is advertisement. Whether or not this game has any chance of success will rely on how interested people are and as it stands this game seems to have a small footprint. You should definitely post your Kickstarter on /r/Gaming and do an AMA as soon as that garners attention!

I can’t but agree with you.
Suppose every backer gives on average 50$, for a minimum pledge, the project would need 6.000 backers. That’s not such a huge number, but it’s still a large audience. Considering a lot of backers will ultimately give below 50$, the total number of required backers will increase.

Here’s a thread I found:

I don’t know, I think there are many people who would be interested in trying something even as simple as the prototype that was shown. So I think the possibility of being able to actually play something like that prototype in a few months and help shape the game will make the developer tier much more appealing. I think the fact that they already have something that works and is playable, something that they can show the players will work to their advantage.

Well, judging from this YT comment and the amount of likes… I:BS is probably good to go

I haven’t seen these forums so alive since… I can’t remember! Possibly the 2010 tech demo?

If the hype can spread through the interwebs, especially to gaming media, we should be getting our game! (I’m ever optimistic)
