What kinds of planets would you like to see?

I would like to see planets with a green (acid) atmosphere. Also maybe a complete water planet would be awesome with an underwater station but that’s another topic though…

I’ll second the motion for a Venus type planet. It has such a unique environment and it would feel quite cool to experience it in this game.

and they just need to replicate the dense athmosphere, fights on that enviroment would be epic, focusing on your instruments to fight and not crashing on the surface, with the heat being a factor where some ships would survive but others not (heavy ships should have enough power to keep the ship cool), imagine this with a valuable mining station, one of the hardest stations to conquer

well, venus have a pretty acid athmosphere! indeed it’s MADE of acid clouds !!

water is hard to implement, but i’m sure they are working on it, just hope we can dive under water, using layers and such, that adds gameplay

Someone in the recent livestream said they were hoping to include a water planet, so it sounds like they are in fact actively working on it.

I’d like to see an icy planet, maybe modeled after Enceladus.

Deep canyons and fractures would be a must! I don’t know if the engine could handle stuff like that, but having all sorts of crevices to dart in and out of would really enhance gameplay, not to mention they’d be a blast to fly through!

I’m OK with more fantastic settings. Sometimes the real world looks a bit boring.

I loved this one:

Beautiful colors.

Keeping a realistic scope, I’d like to have:

An ice planet

A world with huge colorful crystal formations

Maybe a place with gigantic flora and massive forests

Alien canyons with colored stripes

Traces of ancient civilizations would be nice too.

a planet where bioluminescence is in a lot more fuana than earth. i do not condemn the plausibility of its existence, though rare, i dream of bioluminiscent forests.

Nice idea. Like having city lights without structures.

haha, well , the real thing to me is really interesting, i mean, imagination can do anything, but real things can amaze you by giving you more than your own imagination can make up, every time i see the pics of mars surface, i dream about walking there, even if it’s just on a simulated 3D enviroment, it’s a good idea tho, to have some fantastic settings, more options are always good, but i would like them to be a later work, immersion should be the first priority along with gameplay.

And yes please, ice planets! (tho an ice planet would look like the planet @Farman posted)

and traces of ancient civilizations, neat idea!!!

Vegatation is very hard to do (performance wise) but it would be awesome to have. Look at Unigines weather and vegatation:

I hope that I-Novae Engine will support those features soonish. Exciting!

Depending on where the larger world narrative currently stands, and whether the old Quest for Earth timeline still holds any significance whatsoever, I wouldn’t expect to see any traces of ancient civilizations. Not anywhere near Starfold space, at any rate.

Wasn’t the old plan “no living sentient aliens”? So that would make visible alien influences possible. Whether or not those would be in a very large scale or just some random rocks at the bottom of the sea… That’s an entirely different matter. All together.

I could be misremembering, so take this with a suitable quantity of salt, but…

We don’t know what the twists were going to be, but the only relics I remember being discussed in the writers group were ghost ships from the exodus. That doesn’t mean the Infinity universe doesn’t have any, but the first discovery of alien artifacts seems like something that would be significant to the universe’s lore. Not something that’s conducive to an arena shooter taking place in what is probably a mapped system.

Of course, the backstory could have changed in the past 3 years, and alien artifacts could have already been discovered. In which case, anything goes, really.

Ghost ships sounds awesome, even if it’s just flavor for the fight. After all, nothing that I’ve seen so far suggests that this is the first conflict for the system, so you could have entire junkyards or fields of debris from battles.

Assuming we were to reach the 600k stretch goal, I would love to see worlds with lush regions of constant rainful. (Much like the planet in the first Metroid Prime)

More desolate volcanic moons and planets is what I want, there can never be nearly enough for me.

While we are at it, what about some basic fauna here and there?
I seem to recall Flavien talking about sandworms somewhere?
Simple animals, birds for instance, could make the landscapes feel more alive and interesting. Also, they may enhance the sense of scale.
