Weekly Update #10

I know of the subject, because of my research field, but haven’t done work there. I’ve read that optimal launch guidance, thrust /dV for orbit, is a very tricky problem. But, sadly, haven’t done work in that field.

The missile guidance algorithm in the old combat prototype was far from realistic but it was perfect for its purpose. In the ICP missiles were not the primary weapon but they were a deadly hindrance. You could out manoeuvre them or even shoot them down, but you had to make that your primary focus. While thus distracted you were an easier target for enemy ships.

The problem with realistic missiles is that they are too effective. There’s a reason that guns are used so rarely in modern combat. I hope you don’t go that route.
