I think it could be a good start but it needs some tweaking.
On the other hand, the explosion shown here looked very sexy.

This is more of that explosion fx sequence.
It fades to a purplish disintegration effect. I like the overall effect design, just think the timing (transition speed and animation) could be tweaked to make it “pop” more.
