"Those that pledged during Kickstarter will be rewarded"

I don’t have a credit card. Yet I was able to participate in the Kickstarter. I mean, my card’s a debit card and worked fine. My brother had a card before he was 18.

Admittedly, this might be a regional thing - I’m from Poland, and online banking and payment options are readily available.

I had the same problem with the annoyingly limited Kickstarter payment options. Ended up getting a virtual credit card just for this, Kickstarter accepted it and ill see if it gets properly charged in a few hours i guess. Kickstarter should really support Paypal, period. Unfortunately this is not something within the power of a single Kickstarter project to enable.

Isn’t what you described a pre-paid card?

To my knowledge, there are 3 kinds of cards:

  • Credit cards - these are tied to a bank account and, like the name implies, you can pay out more than you currently own (effectively taking a short-term loan).
  • Debit cards - like above, but without the ability to get loans. The card won’t work if you have no funds on your account.
  • Pre-paid cards - available in certain countries / stores, these function similar to debit cards but don’t require a bank account - you purchase those with a certain amount of funds available on them.

The penny card can be used both as a debit card or as a pre-paid card to my knowledge.
The card is not free of course, they provide a service so they have to make some money.
Paypal isn’t free either, the difference is that paypal gets their money from the seller and not the customer. The fees paypal charges have to be considered in the calculation of the price.

When we recorded that video we were unaware of the CC/PayPal issue. We’ll absolutely figure something out for those of you with PayPal. A grace period is certainly possible, we’ll put some thought into it as we work on getting the post-KS funding page all sorted out.

As said above “Debit” cards work absolutely fine, I use one from Commonwealth bank, which im pretty sure (not certain) was free to get, just had to be over 16, and is free to use. Of course being a debit card you must actually have the funds you wish to use in your account.
The only catch is the debit cards have to be from one of the accepted suppliers such as Mastercard.

Hmm? I live on a tropical island (really I do) and I can get a CC. Honestly you can get a CC almost all over the world.

Seriously ? Have you even read any of my responses to this same old “argument” ? It’s all good now. No need to put any blame any further.

After frequently suggesting to advertise the cheap KS prices and the higher retail value of the game on the KS page to no effect, I had secretly hoped for a PayPal grace period.

Three of my friends and myself had to use the CC of my girlfriend to pledge because nobody else had a CC, so I think the crowd-funding of I:B had only just begun.

@InovaeKeith and @InovaeKimmo please consider a grace period of 2-4 weeks and mark it at such. Hardly anything is a better reason to buy something than to know of a future price increase!

And congratulation for the KS-funding!

Here in Australia I use a Debit Card which I don’t think cost me anything per year. To get a CC you however have to pay a signup fee AND monthly charges, there was a time when it was MUCH cheaper and easier to get a CC here, but now you pay ALLOT of fees even for a $500 limit card so I understand why MANY are just not interested in them elsewhere.

I use paypal mostly, linked to my bank account, works great. It does have 2-3c in the dollar exchange rate charge for overseas purchases however (better than banks offer).
