Just leaving this here - saw First Man tonight!
In short (and no spoilers) I thought it was a hard film to love yet an easy film to respect, and really hammers home just how difficult and dangerous NASA’s early days were. Some fabulously shot sequences and interesting historically, yet somehow “icy” in places.
It’s hard to like either Neil Armstrong or Ryan Gosling and I’m not sure which, but the rest of the film itself has a lot to enjoy. It doesn’t echo anything like Apollo 13 which is both blessing and curse!
Verdict: worth seeing for all the space history, but don’t expect to warm to a frosty main character.
