If I remember correctly, rewards do not have to be delivered during development, but after the launch of the product.
Iâm curious if there would be a continuation of upgraded payments once kickstarter is finished alsoâŚ
For example, when Star Citizen was released on KickStarter, I pledged $85, but then upgraded to $250 one their website.
Also whatâs the Goal limit youâll have? $250,000?
I imagine that depends on whether they found a web developer and how long before they plan to launch the KS. Iâd guess not.
They could always launch a shop for alpha/beta access etc months after the KS ends.
@INovaeKeith, could you make a new topic once the Reward Tiers have been revised and call it âRevision 1â or something, so we donât needlessly confuse and complicate this thread?
I would hope so. Create a âDeveloper Communityâ forum as soon as that line of communication can be maintained. When the first announcement about alpha access is ready to be made, create the âAlpha Communityâ forum. Same for when the beta announcement is ready. Having a âBeta Communityâ forum prior to any beta test is just going to create yet another general forum, and it will also lessen the sense of intimacy for the higher pledge tiers. The lower pledge tiers just use the public forums because their communities donât exist yet. Other than through their forum badges.
I also agree that the badges would be better off with a pilot theme. Or some other system that allows each tierâs community to see themselves as peers on the forums, and it is only the rarity of a given badge that makes it special. âHey, that guy has a Nebula badge! Heâs in the developer community. He knows whatâs going on!â
Although i dislike the ads in general
It is good idea in your situation.
But please you should make really good and thought out contract about this.
In the future it could mean rather good percentage of profit for you⌠(of course you would have to be successfulâŚwhich you will be ;-))
I enjoyed the reward of $ 250. The first supporters will not have a ship with a differential?
10.000⏠is a very, very large amount of money, iâd suggest you give them the ability to name an interstellar cloud or star cluster, including the posability to name important stars and planets in these clusters. Another idea would be to design and name a new ship of their choice or something like that.
These would be good suggestions for the 1.000-10.000 range, where you put them is your thing^^
A t shirt (not the official dev t shirt) should be a reward at 250+ already btw^^
Thatâs what comes to my mind right now, just some suggestions though, do what you want
Iâve been following the developement of this game since 2012 or 2011 and i am truly happy that you guys get to the final stages, good luck.
I love this idea. Also, since the luminescence of the stars is measurable, then they could be distributed based on the pledge amount, with the highest pledge having the brightest star. Would be interesting if by the end there would be as many stars as amount of Kickstarter backers. For this to work the stars have to be static. Nebulas and location of the galaxy center may still change. Question is if there even has to be a pledge tier for this?
@NniemandweiterR The funny thing about interstellar things (be they nebulae, or clusters, or whatever else) is that they would actually have to exist in game for them to be named in game. Since Battlescape is confined to a single star system, thereâs no interstellar space in game for interstellar objects to reside in.
Nah. Backers would just be naming pixels in the sky box. Heck, INS could let people name voids too, for that matter. âI didnât get to name Sirius, but I did get to name the black pixel just to the right of it.â
Then thereâs the thought of putting a name on an object that does exist, like a planetary ring rock. Literally, put a name on it. Some guy is hiding his ship behind a shepherd moon and sees âKichae was hereâ.
Oh, well, yeah, thatâd work. Not sure you could name planets in those clusters, but objects in the skybox (assuming itâs static) seem like fair game to me.
Given the current tiers, weâd all better hope Kichae finds a better job this summer, otherwise that signâs never going to appear!
True that, i did think too far ahead, to the finished game, but so many things can change inbetween, who knows if the battlescape system will even make it into the finished game, if the sky will look the same then, if the Battlescape backers will get rewards in the final game? I am sure i read about the rough plans on the whole project, but finding the information out of the X blogs, Y forum posts and Z twitter messages randomly scattered across the past 3 to 4 years is⌠well a bit of work.
Iâm not sure what you mean by final game?
Infinity Quest for Earth
The Kickstarter is for Battlescape, again, the KS rewards will have nothing to do with a possible MMO. So many things have to go right before we can consider developing the MMO, weâre focused on Battlescape for the moment.
Battlescape will be a finished game. If an MMO is developed in the distant future it will be a separate game. I-Novae arenât going to just keep adding features to Battlescape until one day it becomes an MMO.
Actually, $10k (or âŹ10k) is a fairly small amount of money, when seen in the context of advertisement. It goes from âfairly smallâ to âminusculeâ if only a couple of people buy the tier and their ads then end up being displayed multiple times per station, while at the same time the game becomes reasonably popular.
In a game with a large, established playerbase, you could probably charge far more than $10k per month for ads like this.
Do note that the advertisement billboard tier doesnât mention a limit on the length of time it will be up. So practically it would be there while Battlescape is maintained/supported by I-Novae Studios.
Iâm a bit concerned about businesses like Bobâs Plumbing, ShackleBoob.com, TradeMasterFree or GrowItBiggerMeds buying the $10k billboard tier, we might end up with an advertisement completely unrelated to IBS or anything to do with any game genre.
I really think that INS should mention the limitations of the âbillboardâ tier if there are any.
