Hereâs a few ideas i took from other games. Planetside 2 has some good examples for KS-only rewards.

Instead of offering entire exclusive ships as rewards why not special âarmorâ or âskinsâ? Lets say you have a Cruiser you get in game. You can also get a Fancy Cruiser in game by winning really well. The KS exclusive will have a variation on the Fancy Cruiser that has golden plating instead of the normal one. It would be very shiny and obvious that this guy is âawesome!â and bought the KS exclusive noone else can get now. You would be changing a single shader on a ship to match a gold material (i guess it might be more complicated than that).

Similar to the above, there could be weapon categories (all lasers for example) that could have a KS-exclusive visual and sonic variation. For example it could be a white-colour laser with a unique distinct sound (white lasers only available to NPCs and KS-backers).

Ship trails. Unique trails for all your ships. Make them look like a waterfall or simply glowy plasma.

In-game pets just like in WoW. Might sound stupid but A LOT of people are obsessed with these kinds of things. This would be a cute little bot following your ship and doesnât interact with anything. They would sometimes fly in front of your ship when youâre not in combat and do something funny like wiping your cockpit glass with a napkin. Hereâs a few examples:

Engine sounds. Simply a different set of âawesomeâ sounds for your spaceships. Maybe something resembling a Formula 1 car engine sound, a helicopter or a steam engine or something silly or cool.

Decals. Pretty easy one, exclusive KS-only decals for your ships.

PTS access. Access to the test server after the game launches for a sneakpeak at new features and help test/feedback. Not sure how useful this would be but itâs something.

Merchandising deal for battlescape-themed clothing offered as a reward for backers only such as shirts, hats, coats, etcâŚ

That could work, if you had some sort of kill replay, showing how you died from the enemyâs perspective while you wait to respawn. Then again, that has the potential to induce RAGE! if someone starts being an idiot with what he writes. So it might be better to keep it limited to preset things (donât give players the ability to change it to whatever they want or paint their ships however they want (on official servers, at least), but do give them the ability to ask a dev to change their custom decorations or to buy approved skins or something similar).

Hence me calling it a terrible idea (even though I personally like it) ^^
asking for approval might cause a lot of extra work for the devs who then canât work on the game. Maybe later they could hire someone whoâs sole purpose is to deal with the community, including such approvals.
If customisable messages on ships are going to be added, it will probably be in the vein of nose art on planes and any filtering will most likely just be a profanity blacklist and the ability for people to flag others for review by a moderator.

I havenât seen this mentioned yet, but maybe add a âfree camâ-mode to a tier. Iâve seen @Hutchings utilizing a free cam mode in this video, which would be an unique feature to pledge for in my opinion.
I would argue against a free-roving camera. The sense of awe instilled by the vast scale of the planetary system around the star would be either seriously compromised or lost.
Make it a high tier then, I would gladly pay $250 or more to get the best possbile screenshot angles.
Well, you could always get a free-cam mode if youâre standing still or not using propulsers, if youâre afraid of gameplay impacts (and that would be totally justified).
Then again, passing by a giant gas planet, watching it from the side on full view, while flirting with the asteroid ring, would make quite a very valid point for free-cam.
Free-cam mode shouldnât be on a high-tier of the KS, if at all. Otherwise it would be the best way to discourage reviewers or humble gamers to admire the ⌠guess it would be planetscape instead of landscape?

I would think that a spectator mode of some kind would be desireable, especially for people that want to make in-game video recordings. A free-cam mode could implemented as an orbiting drone like its been done in other games.
Any sense of scale will always be lost if you donât have something to compare it to. Take for instance the rings video that inovae released and everyone thought the asteroids were tiny little rocks until they put up a picture of the asteroid with a ship next to it. The same really applies to any stellar body. The sun doesnât seem so large until you put a planet right next to it, and consider that our sun is tiny compared to other some stars.

Profanity blacklists donât work. Not sure if you remember my full (actual) name, but that would be a swift enough indication.
It gets harder when you have to deal with multiple languages as well. For instance, the company that owns the company I work for means something that might be considered rather rude in Japan (iirc).
If you are going to do that, make people submit their text for their nose art through a form, either in the KS survey, on the website, or in-game, then moderate every entry manually, and hope you get it right.

Yes, but ultimately any profanity filter is fairly trivial to game, unless you heavily restrict the allowable inputs (to ASCII only, for instance).

Ah, yes. Forgot to mention that as being an alternative option.
Iâd also add that I like the idea of decals, and if decals were to be included as a general feature Iâd argue that having a few KS exclusive ones (maybe one per tier above a certain tier, then a few other generic KS-only) wouldnât be a bad idea.

Youâre a little late to the party. We already have memes: Space whales and rocket fins, and now googly eyed asteroids and beards.
