NASA Depiction of Space Weather

We’ve talked about this stuff before, but I can’t find a thread to hold this, so here we go: a NASA animation of space weather during part of the New Horizons approach to Pluto. This is what I think about when I envision space weather.

We’re not talking hurricane-level weather effects here, but perhaps something that could just tweak the way gameplay works. If a CME hits a planet, then the power plants may be affected. Or some sensors. And so on.

If you look at the center of the rings, you’ll see the sun belching out CMEs, leading to the swirling pattern.

Here’s another version with some narration.
