Dark Theme Userscript and CSS for the Forums

Link text is now almost the same shade as the background.

This is what I see at the moment in Opera (latest) with my current CSS in Stylus. Plus some odd (text/last post) fade out effects now look a little odd.

On meta.discourse.org you can set your own theme however, despite upgrading, I’m not seeing that capability here and I’m not sure why.

Ok I think I figured it out. You should be able to choose between the Light and Dark themes in your user profile settings under the Interface tab.

Thanks Keith. The official dark theme loads faster and is far smoother to use than our previous custom CSS, and now we see all the new animation and fade effects in full dark mode.

Might need to rework the dark theme css opacity for the INS logo though to swap when dark theme is turned on, its almost impossible to see now at the top of the page when official dark theme is on. Viewing with Opera (latest) browser.

The issue has been mentioned on meta.discourse here. The contrast of the topic title/header text seems just a tad dark on ours and the INS logo image you can hardly see.

See my screen grabs below.

Thanks, it looks good and is functional.

It does have the header issue jonny posted about on firefox as well, the header text and images don’t change with just the official theme(text is #333333 either way), the text and site logo become illegible. I’ve quickly whipped up a userscript that covers this edge case that is much faster (two orders of magnitude, 77 lines instead of 11000) than the old one we were using. I’ve uploaded it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dvn3q5l3mwzainw/Inovae_forums_dark_header_fix.user.js?dl=0

There might be a way to fix it on the discourse end (i read something about header font being changable by the person running it), but it might also just be fixed sometime down the road so i wouldn’t worry about it too much. Running such a lightweight script/style sheet isn’t a big deal.
