That’s the kind of megastructure I’d expect as a spaceport in a larger MMO with AI ships buzzing everywhere. I just hope infinity can reach that point someday beyond Battlescape :smiley:

I doubt they’d go anywhere near something like that in this version. Create the smallest moon that the engine can handle, cut some ports in it for bay entrances and you’re done. Mechanical greeble is replaced by terrain greeble - which the game does perfectly well. Actually, make the moon surface have some regular patterns to it and it might look like something that a faction cut out of a larger moon. A hybrid of a station and a moon.

Dumb question, but how’s the integration of on-site pledging and pledge-upgrading coming along? It doesn’t have to come instantly, but it would be nice to know that it is planned to be released before dev-tier pledging ends.

Keith is finishing the new installer / patcher as we speak, then he’ll move on finishing the on-site pledging system, which is half-way implemented already. So it should be a matter of a few weeks, not 6 months.

are you gonna release a 0.1.3.0 patch with these soon because there is nothing to really do in the prototype currently so can you do like with a weekly update on hear one ingame too like maybe 1 every 1-3 weeks?

It’s a prototype to experience the game engine. The whole point of the prototype was to release something ASAP while they work on the back end stuff before they really start creating content. I felt this was explicit when dev tier was explained but maybe it wasn’t clear enough.

I dont expect major content updates until at least alpha late this year although I’m open to being surprised.

We’re working on getting to a point where we can release weekly updates. As @Skyentist mentioned we’re in the prototype stage so our updates will come within variable amounts of time as we’re still building the foundation of the game. Hopefully within the next few months that will change as we finish the installation/patching system and get the baseline ships and weapons mocked up.

Will the structures shown be procedurally generated or will they all share the same shape?

If memory serves, the structures will not be procedurally generated. Maybe in the future :slightly_smiling:

My understanding was that the buildings will just be a selection of buildings that are designed to be put together procedurally. There might be a few models of “Capital Ship Hangar” to select from, but the game will only select from those models, not generate them on the fly.

Yeah the buildings are static, the bases are procedural. The game takes existing buildings and generates a base. It’s a system like Diablo’s level generation. There might be a collection of each type of building and the game picks one of each when generating a base.
