With every episode, this show makes me support Mars colonization less and less. Antarctica is more hospitable for crying out loud.
Even if you donāt want to sign the petition, thereās a Fan Trailer on that page that is absolutely excellent and better than the actual trailers in my opinion.
The colonization of Mars, or anywhere for that matter, isnāt about living somewhere more hospital than Earth, itās about not living on Earth.

I mean, the only thing it really has going for it is (mostly) breathable oxygen.
And water. And atmospheric pressure. And a conspicuous absence of toxic stuff. And 1g. And close proximity to the Earth global networksā¦

The Expanse is moving to Amazon for the fourth season
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos made the announcement at the National Space Societyās International Space Development Conference in Los Angeles Friday night.
Bezos told the ballroom full of The Expanse fans, āI just got word that The Expanse was saved.ā
Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, who produce the series, said:
āWe couldnāt be more excited that The Expanse is going to continue on Amazon Prime! We are deeply grateful that Jeff Bezos, [new Amazon Studios head] Jen Salke, and their team at Amazon have shown such faith in our show. We also want to thank Laura Lancaster, head of Alcon Television for her tireless efforts. We are fully aware that this wouldnāt have been possible if it wasnāt for the staggering outpouring of support from the most creative, hardest working sci-fi fans around the world. Watching ep9-13 of the expanse, in ep13 some of the shots of the interior of the behemoth ( a large drum like spinning space ship producing spin gravity) look suspiciously like some camera views you see in Elite dangerous as you enter and then re-orientate and move to your assigned landing pad. Watch ep13 season 2 and your see what I mean.
Great season, looking forward to season 3 now!

The finale was awesome, watched it twice.
This show has a lot of videogame references, most of the elevator talking scenes are a nod to mass effect for example.

Interesting similarities i noticed.
MASSIVE SPOILERS UP TO BOOK 7 !!
Donāt have much time for anything else but reading Expanse books at the moment.
And at the beginning of book 7 it occurred to me.
I have seen something like this before.
Yeah our mind love to look for similarities and familiar patternsā¦but still i wonder if it played a some small role as inspiration.
Or is it just basic story structure that is repeated in so many works of fictions?
I gather most of you played Freespace series right ?
Lets see what we have :
Two groups beating each other until third, way more advanced party, arrives on stage.
At which time the two former enemies join up to face the greater threat.
(inner planets vs belters + protomolecule / Human vs Vesudans + Shivans)
Raise of rebel faction opposing the new forged alliance.
Free Navy / NTF + Hammer of light
Gates created by 3rd faction or ancient race. Connecting various worlds to a hub space.
Ring gate + Slow zone / Knossos Device + āInto the Lionās Denā hub space
Looming threat of advanced faction that far exceeds even the third faction
That something in Expanse Miller construct talked about / Ancients in FS universe
Rebellious faction trying to forge alliance or use the 3rd/4th party tech for their own benefit.
Laconia system rebels + Duarte / NTF + Admiral Aken H. Bosch
But of course we could find similarities in all kinds of things if we look hard enough.
But it is interesting that something like freespace sequel wasnāt considered to be lucrative enough endeavour at the time.
Now look at how beloved by fans of this genera is something like Expanse, which has plenty of similarities to story of old Freespace.
In you face Interplay/Volition or whoever has the licence. I think nobody even knows anymore

And atmospheric pressure.
And easy access to drinkable water from ice thatās not full of toxins.
And the lack of deadly radiation from solar activity.
And the lack of static charge buildup on equipment.
And the lack of dust clogging up equipment.
Itās also a little cheaper/quicker to get to.

Itās not another planet, though. Big points off there.
Mostly granted.
Not quite as deadly perhaps but the UV radiation down there is pretty intense
A lot of wetness down there though.

The thing that stood out to me really were the aliens. It is so rare to have aliens that are tens of thousands or million years ahead of humans.
Also when can we have the 360 no scope unassigned button for Infinity: Battlescape? After all, Star Fox had the barrel rollā¦

The show really suffered from the actors not even trying to pretend to be in zero gravity. Maybe one day we will have a good show without magnet boots.
Maybe not the actors. But other staff took it into account. If they are in 1g then the hair is let loose and kept together if not.
What I donāt get is how earthers and belters can work on the same ship. Surely earthers can handle more Gs and therefore get to their destinations faster if they didnāt have belters as a handicapā¦ 
Of course automated ships with robots would flyby all manned vessels. 
A difficult task to pull off well. Some movies have done a great job faking their zero g shots, but the expanse has so many of them, the budget would have likely been quite restrictive.
With launch costs dropping, it would be nice to see a series shot in a true Zero g or microgravity environment
