Star Citizen and Infinity - Mutual community interactions

I thought Flaviens blog piece was great. And the main reason I came here from the ED side of things. His well written critique of ED was spot on for me.

True. The lack of content is a big problem with Elite. Everywhere you go looks like the place you just left, thereā€™s no variety. I think it would have been better to make human space a lot more compact but spend more time developing interesting locations, rather than having thousands of systems that all look the same.

The content problem might be rectified by opening the game up to modding, but it doesnā€™t look like Frontier is going to do that. Even single player mode is always-online, which is pretty lame. The game also greatly suffers from there being no reason to interact with other players, so thereā€™s not much reason for it to be online.

I think the post made reasonable criticisms that I share, however the complaint about ugly/unrealistic planets actually might not be so valid

Keep in mind this article was written a year ago when Star Citizen only had a hangar module and the arena commander module released. Context, context !

Iā€™ve been pretty impressed by what they have shown at citizencon in august and october. The PU looks great, the ability to walk seamlessly from a space station to a ship cockpit, then warp to a planet or station, and enter it, is really neat. And keep in mind that if I didnā€™t like Star Citizenā€™s vision, I wouldnā€™t have backed it on KS in the first place.

wait!
after a year what do we have?
an Hangar, the arena commander and a map!
I have to say they made a great progress.

They went from a bunch of individual modules, to something that looks like is fitting together ( PU ). This is a gigantic step IMO. Iā€™m mostly speaking from a technicianā€™s POV. Right now, I have no doubt that they have solved most / all of their technical challenges.

me too, but Iā€™m very disappointed of what Cloud Imperium has done so far.

The game isnā€™t finished yet. This game has a lot of pros like the gameplay and how easily you can fly your ship with a simple gamepad without feeling limited. In another hand it isnā€™t the one that makes me dream like Infinity

Ermmā€¦

Not everything that mainstream science writes is truth.
Most of it are actually just thesis, but some of those thesis are so often repeated that they have become a norm even though we have no proof whatsoever.

You wouldnā€™t believe how much things we all take for granted are just really poorly thought out thesis.
Its is mindbogling when you dig deeper in to this issue.

A theory is an explanation for an observed phenomenon that is supported by evidence. ā€˜Theoryā€™ doesnā€™t mean ā€˜wild guessā€™.

So, you totes have a citation or two for that claim, right?

in reality an accepted theory is basically a fact until proven wrong.

I think it would be a good idea to change the title if the issue has been solved, as itā€™s misleading for the people who come here from the star citizen forums.

I canā€™t understand why there is so many little derek smart to try making conflicts between space game lovers. I love battlescape and I try to do my best for this game, and I also love Star Citizen and as I already said SC is going to be the best game ever. BUT WHY CHOOSE BETWEEN TWO AWESOME GAMES WHEN I CAN HAVE THE TWO OF THEM ?

Iā€™m upset with this. Donā€™t worry @BadMan123, I donā€™t know any member here that donā€™t share your point of view

I am not looking for an argument.
I was trying to imply, that one should always use ones head and not blindly accept all that was written.

ā€¦lets leave this discussion for another time.
shall we ?

And I was trying to imply that one makes a bad point when one doesnā€™t heed it themselves.

Well done.

The thing is that I donā€™t think that the game aims to the same crowd. Infinity will be a dogfighting game. I would like to see it becoming a true sim but it will not be.

Space games are niche games and the crowd for space game is quite small. Furthermore this one reduce even more this crowd by making a specific fighting space game. The engine is really awesome, but the gameplay primes.

That said itā€™s obvious that this will bring more haters than a full sim genre.

I find there is just something about Infinity that grabs my attention.

With Star Citizen, its fantastic and I hope delivers on its promises. But its many years away, and I am holding off trying any of it out until 2017>. Until manual planetary atmospheric flight and landings, and hopefully with full and proper force feedback implemented by then - I lobby hard for it in both SC and ED. And with Sq42, waiting until the first main and second part is done. All up to the next pay wall for the next instalments of Sq42.

So waiting for a fuller game experience.

I did try some flying last month on a friends computer and I have to say I really dislike it. Tooo complex for me at the moment. So Iā€™ve started to think about just playing the PU as a crew member, EVA mission specialist in salvage, rescue & recovery. Love EVA. And as a gunner on one of my fellow Browncoats large ships. I think this might be more suited to my xbox elite gamepad and full HOTAS couch (sofa) style.

Iā€™ve got a 315p package and a couple of Auroras and two Mustangs, the single birth version and the fighter. I like the idea of single sleeping birth ships. But if I had to work towards one ship it would be the reclaimer salvage ship.

The two Mustangs were my last ships I got via that very convoluted hull upgrade process because I had plenty of Auroraā€™s. And now Iā€™m done spending.

Having only discovered the Derek smart stuff when I read that sort of rant post CR made on the comm link article. Odd for a CEO to put out such a post I thought at the time and then looked into it. The whole thing has left doubts in the back of mind I just cannot shake. Which is why I was happen to switch to Infinity and help here.

From my posting about our KS, I have to say the Elite community have been by far the best at welcoming Infinity and pledging. A good number on the SC forums have not been so keen.
