There is the difference with these stormtroopers being naturally produced as opposed to the clones Luke fraught.
Luke fought clones? I thought they stopped using clones-only for stormtroopers after the clone wars. Unless that was in the extended universe.
They stopped using clones after the first generation, in both the Old EU and the new canon; the clonesâ aging was accelerated period, not just during production, so they were phased out, aside from a very small few who stayed on as instructors and whatnot, in favor of more ânaturalâ soldiers.
All stormtroopers were volunteers and/or conscripts by the time Luke entered the picture.
I got to ask, Seeing as how the new order is the obvious bad and the republic in a different sense re exists.
Why the hell were they called the RESISTANCE and why did they only have fucking X wings?
Except the 501st, which continued to use clones (until they destroyed the cloning factories on Kamino). Even after that, they were a mostly clone force.
Itâs something a lot of people are confused and frustrated about. Technically speaking, the First Order are seemingly now the rebels to the New Republic, which I guess we just assume is in full control. So then the Resistance I suppose is just a military force established with the sole purpose of opposing the First Order.
While we only saw X-Wings in this film, itâs tradition in the other trilogies for these forces to expand in subsequent titles so Iâm sure weâll see more of the Resistance in more varied hardware in the next one.
I understood it to be the First Order and the New Republic are now competing for territory, but not directly at war (although that may have changed thanks to their mental superweapon binge). The Resistance I took to be made up of people living in First Order space and rebelling against their rule. There were lines in the film about them being not-so-secretly backed by the New Republic.
Hence that planet getting blown up. âHa, this will teach you to back silly resistances!â
Presumably the X-Wings came from the New Republic (which was created from the Rebel Alliance).
Overall i enjoyed the movie.
But i will start with the bad points.
The entire movie felt like a fan service, It had the same feel as a fan made movie but with a huge budget,
The movie followed the winning formula of the original movie very closely, they seemed afraid to take the franchise anywhere into the unknown. Some might say that his movie really didnt do anything we hadnt seen before.
Some of the ridiculous coincidences that occured during the movie for no real reason⌠Ray happening upon the millenium falcon, then somehow being able to fly it, only to be caught by han solo, only to then find a light saber in a small box in a bar that happened to belong to luke skywalker.
Ray going from not believing in the force to being able to master advanced jedi mind tricks in the space of a few minutes. Her mastery of wielding a lightsaber with no training besting a sith whom had at least some training.
The whole rebel alliance still exisiting even though the empire was defeated. The fact that they could only muster 4 xwings to take on a planet sized death star, also luckily the fact that this death star only had 4 tie fighters to defend it.
What i enjoyed about this movie though was brilliant action sequences and they really nailed the set and costume design, It felt like star wars unlike phantom menace. I loved seeing those alien species again like admiral akbarr etcâŚ
Overall it was a decent movie but an 8.5 on imdb? please should be a 6.5
I thought about giving it a second watch at the cinema, but decided to wait until the extended/DC bluray if there is one. The side films and the other main ones should help fill things out more. Just dislike having to wait so long for them all.
This is technically an accurate description
Clearly the Millenium Falcon being there is a plot point, but I donât see why her ability to fly it was any more unusual than Anakin flying an N1 in TPM. Sheâs a mechanic who has been specialising in junking Star Destroyer components, sheâs clearly technically grounded.
Thatâs really the only part of the movie that wasnât satisfactorily explained.
I doubt it was any coincidence Han took them there.
She didnât not believe in the Force, and her mind trick powers only surfaced directly after Kylo Ren tried to penetrate her mind, when she realised the connection went both ways.
Her swordplay was sloppy. Besides, remember that Ren took a direct hit from a bowcaster bolt (and we saw how effective those bolts were earlier), meaning a lot of his energy was being taken just to keep him standing, and he was trying to subdue Rey, not kill her
Crossbow blaster bolt was nearly irreverent to him. He escaped the explosions like nothing. Caught up to them like nothing. Force threw her into a tree knocking her out like nothing. And then all of a sudden it âCatches up with himâ Absolutely 0 chance for him to have lost seeing as how he could even catch up to them, let alone overtake them.
Iâm pretty sure when he was pounding his chest during his confrontation with Finn and Rey it was because he was trying to take his mind off the physical pain and use it to fuel him, he was clearly injured by the blast.
He was actually pounding the hip side that received the blaster hit. I agree with you however, @Topperfalkon, that the blaster hit is relevant in how heâs a bit struggling at the start against an inexperienced Finn.
Kylo finding them so quickly is to be put on the yet astonishing series of never-ending coincidences in this movie. As for the escape from the explosion, one can suppose the general âwhat-so-everâ managed to find him before the inevitable.
Kind of disappointed by this news, no extended cut for DVD. Just deleted scenes.

Late to the game, but as far as being an entertaining standalone movie, 9/10. If you want to factor in some of the âstupidâ parts, 8/10.
As Episode VII, though, it ranks poorly. Maybe a 6/10. Third deathstar? Will there ever be a Force user who isnât a child of someone who already has the Force? Why is it that those who have the greatest Force âattunementâ are always whiny little bitches? âOh no, I can stop a plasma bolt mid-air and literally read minds, Iâm clearly never going to live up to my grandfatherâs legacy, despite the fact nobodyâs ever done that before.â
He didnât just find, he was in front of them. They were on two completely different levels of the structures. he was basically dead center. They were at the door in essence.
So he not only managed to find them. he caught up, over took them with raw speed, and then magically struggles for no reason after force slamming Rey into a tree. So no, the blaster hit was unbelievably irreverent except when they remembered that it happened.
You might want to Google the definition of this word
It puts a kind of funny twist on what you are clearly intending to say.
Youâre right, it also slightly makes sense.
The Star Wars Ring Theory points out that this is exactly how this movie should play out though. Or at least its author does
