Hi there, folks. Nice to hear how people are going. fat monkey - I remember you as one of the other Aussies. Sorry to hear that things suck for you right now, Kichae.
I think I found Infinity in around 2009, and it was my inspiration to get into games programming, which I absolutely love.
Since then my wife and I have had a son, who had his first birthday today and decided to take the visit to Opa’s house as an opportunity to take his first steps. I could go on about him but what’s to say? He’s of small stature and predominantly human, and I think he’s amazing. Pretty standard parenting fare. When he was first born I used orbital docking terminology as a metaphor to help him understand the whole breastfeeding thing. I think it helped.
I also had a programming job for a while, but I discovered that I couldn’t do that work and my own projects at the same time. Task-switching between two large programming projects that have little to do with one another was a pain in the butt for me. So now I’m looking for a menial job to pay the bills while I work on my own project. Apparently having a simple job on the side works for a lot of creative types, like writers, so hopefully it’ll work for me.
I’ve also taken on board zefrank’s “brain-crack” idea, which basically means that when I have an idea I just do it. Just kick out a quick prototype so the idea doesn’t get stuck in my brain. Recently I wrote a tree generator that’s given me some ideas about how to approach some procedural stuff in my game, so that one paid off really fast.
The game itself is a stunt-racer with its own track editor, and a few twists on what I’ve seen in the genre up until now. I’ll make sure to post here when I’ve got a playable demo.
So happy to see I-Novae team and community is still thriving. I doubt any of you remember me, but I remember at least names like Crayfish and others. Latest tech video was amazing.
Holy shit dude I joined TEC years ago! I was trying to google the corp but couldn’t find it so registered with AXIS who are somehow still kicking haha. Sounds like you’ve had quite the adventure. Good to see you’ve made your way back
I joined the old forums back in high school and really enjoyed the discourse and all the submissions by the community, sadly when the recession hit me hard, and had me jumping from temp job to temp job for a while. Then not even temp jobs wanted me. I found myself homeless for about a year and a half, every few weeks finding some sort of work that would maybe last a few days usually minimum wage until finally a company I submitted my resume to responded and was interested in my experience with programs such as GIMP and Photoshop for work on textbook revisions they do and I’ve sort of become their unofficial in-house software tech.
It has been a long time since i visited this site. Nice to see the project is still going strong. Although I’m kinda disappointed we can’t contribute to the same extend anymore. (but maybe it’s for the best regarding quality)
Anyways me:
Studying mechanical engineering (almost got my bachelor)
Girlfriend, yes (probably inversely related to the time I spend on the old forums)
New hobby; mountaineering/ climbing/ ski-alpinism
Man, its been a while since I posted on the Infinity forums. I used to do all sorts - admittedly some of my first projects weren’t really that good looking back - but I’ve certainly had fun making stuff. I even tried to organise some of the contributions, for better or for worse. Shame we can’t go back and look at all the old posts now.
In the mean time I’ve managed to get a masters degree in Engineering and now I’ve landed myself a job at Rolls Royce. I’m not up to much at the moment, just waiting for my job to start in 6 months. I might go travelling again if I can earn enough money

Hi, and welcome to the new forums sparlin! Too bad we didn’t ever finish up all those contribution lists and galleries. (Now we don’t have to anymore). Hope to see all those old posts some day though… For old times sake.
Opting in as well! Can’t believe it’s almost 8 years ago that I joined. Many games have come and gone already, while Infinity still isn’t anywhere near being playable. But I’m sure the waiting will pay off in the end.
Maybe some people will remember me doing some interface concept work besides some general graphic design stuff (dynamic user interface/in-game icons). Don’t know if we are still allowed to pitch ideas/contribute for the Kickstarter project like we used to, but it seams Infinity is at least getting some traction now.
Anyway, I have been following the project on a monthly basis, and hope to see more frequent updates in the future!
I really liked your work, especially the big space station. I really miss the creative community we had with so many people sharing their work and teaching each other how to become better modellers and artists.
Infinity was really the motivation for me to learn modelling/texturing. It was (is!) a great community of supportive modelers and really helped me develop; so much so that I now run my own (small) business and feel like I can create (almost) professional quality stuff.
And I still get the urge to go create more spaceships every known and again!
A little update to my original post here. Been trying my wings as an entrepreneur for almost a year now (since April). Working OK:ish for me
It’s awesome to be able to decide your own schedule. But it requires self discipline and organization. I should probably get more customers for some more €… but right now I get a decent pay for a decent amount of hours so I’m quite satisfied with that. Let’s see if 2015 will be the year of expansion (in terms of customers, not employees etc.).
Oh… and no burnouts so far. Although I have less time for Minecraft now…
