I should have asked before starting the download of the latest patch. Oh well.
Just downloaded the latest patch. CPU usage steady around 71%.
Download rate about the same at ~23.5Mbps

I just upgraded and I’m averaging around 40% CPU and 20-30mbps with spikes up to 130. It’s downloading quite slow at the moment and I’m not sure why.
I can test it for you guys, i just need alpha access super quick, alright?
Heh with 16 threads this was a cakewalk ![]()
Just downloaded 0.3.0.1 at 20 megabits/second with a constant CPU utilisation of 65%.
I then started up WarThunder which I haven’t played in a while and sure enough it needed to update - It started downloading an 8 GB update at ~20 megabits/second with a constant CPU utilisation of 7%.
That’s an order of magnitude less!
The bulk of our CPU utilization is in decryption and hashing as the package is streamed, which is multi-threaded as much as possible given that all 3 of those are ultimately serial operations. As far as encryption/decryption is concerned high CPU usage is considered a feature. Obviously this has to be balanced with speed however 65% is low enough that I’m not sweating it - 90%+ would be a concern. I’m running a Skylake CPU and I only hit ~40% CPU utilization.
I’m not saying it’s using too much CPU for the work it’s doing.
I am saying it appears to be doing an unnecessarily large amount of work.
