Space whales…before googly-eyed asteroids, there were space whales…
ahh yes, the space whale… seen here (fan art required) consuming vast amounts of googly eyed asteroids, it will take many years to digest the poor helpless souls… the googly eyed asteroids can only look on in terror, as their friends and family are heartily consumed by the beast…
There could be an easter egg on the surface of a planet somewhere with a gigantic whale carcass and googly eyes strewn across the landscape.
Alas, poor Minky overdosed :’(
Sure it is. I’d never heard of his game until someone posted a German review of it, and while I quickly decided not to buy it the very fact that I considered buying a product I had never heard of until that moment, even if only for a fraction of a second, proves that it’s good publicity. Just not, you know, good enough to get past the shitty game.
For that matter, seeing the comments he’d made about SC made me give another moment of consideration to buying that. Before deciding not to. Good publicity: I might have decided not to buy it, because I really don’t like their business model, but someone more ambivalent to that could have, and almost certainly has, been convinced.
Unless, you know, the random fan of Infinity that posted the video happens to be an American lawyer for his/her dayjob, in which case he/she could quite literally sue INS out of business, or out of the country. I mean, honestly, I live in a comparatively sane legal system and have known people to sue over a broken freezer in a real estate deal (and win!) in one case, and a pint of icecream and a teddybear in another - and while the court didn’t order the defendant to pay a significant amount of money in either case, the not-self-employed-lawyers did.
Oh and there’s the whole part where selectively DMCA’ing any sort of transformative work is the epitome of evil, but don’t worry about that, worst that’ll happen is that you get some bad good publicity.
There is only one thing that would trump a space whale in sheer epicness…
Stick THAT in your procedural generator!
We can’t control what fans say in their videos, what music they choose, and how they market and edit their videos. We can certainly make recommendations, @INovaeGene and @Hutchings have made a few, however I’m personally not sweating it. I think it’s well done, I’ve tweeted a link to it, thanks @SpaceDonki.
His last book came out a few days ago. /crys
Awesome! I’ve been super excited for that. I only wish it wasn’t his last.
Wait, his last book wasn’t his last but his second last, and now this is his last?
Yay!
He was constantly working on discworld lore just before he died, so who knows if there will be even more “interpreted” books coming later. Perhaps his daughter might help fill in the gaps.
Well, she did quite definitively say she’s not gonna write another diskworld book.
I read that post in David Attenborough’s voice Hutch…
Lets get this post back on topic shall we?
A special treat I think, some first screenshots taken of a volcanic planet with emissive textures. The volcanic texture pack is still WIP, but it’s coming along nicely, say goodbye to the plastic planet look as well
Three images, at 3 different elevations, High orbit, high atmosphere, and ground level… awww yisss, enjoy!
Hmm. . . smoggy.
I lavait!
I’ll show myself the door…
Looking awesome!
Especially cool when viewed from space. I wonder if cities will glow in a similar manner on the night side of a planet (eventually in the MMO of course).
Very impressive! Love the atmospheric effects
Awesome as always.
I see we’ll need fog lamps for our ships…
Yes! This I have been waiting for, and it looks great! Thank you for showing us!
